These terms apply when you use magikast.com or buy from us. Magikast is a trading name of Baby Design Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, at 378 Mare Street, London, E8 1HR, United Kingdom. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, our Refund Policy and our Shipping Policy.

1. Who can order

You must be 18 or older to order. We ship to addresses in the United States only.

2. Your child's photo and details

When you upload a photo or enter a child's details, you confirm that:

  • you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or you have their parent's or guardian's permission;
  • the photo shows the child the book is for, and only that child is meant to be the hero;
  • you have the right to use the photo, and it contains nothing unlawful, harmful or inappropriate.

You keep all rights to your photo. You give us permission to use it, and the details you enter, only to make, deliver and support your order, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may refuse or cancel any order that breaks these rules.

3. The preview and your child's character

Before you buy, you see a free preview of your child in the book. Your child isn't pasted in as a photo: from one photo, they're brought into the illustrator's world as an illustrated character, in the style of the book, so they look like part of the story. The preview shows you how your child will look in the book, so please check it before ordering. A different photo gives a different result, and you're welcome to try another one before you buy.

4. Names and dedications

You're responsible for the name and dedication you enter, including spelling. We print what you give us. We may refuse text that is offensive or that we aren't allowed to print. Once your order is paid, the dedication can't be changed.

5. Orders and prices

  • Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax and shipping are added at checkout.
  • Your order is accepted when we send your order confirmation.
  • If a price on our site is clearly wrong, we may cancel the order and refund you in full, even after confirming it.
  • Discount codes have the terms shown with them, can't be exchanged for cash, and may be limited to one use.

6. Making and delivering your book

Each book is made to order for your child, printed by our print partner and shipped to the address you give at checkout. See our Shipping Policy for details. Please check your shipping address carefully: we can't change it once your book has gone to print.

7. Returns and problems

Because every book is made for one child, we don't accept returns for a change of mind. If anything arrives damaged, misprinted or faulty, or gets lost in transit, we'll make it right. See our Refund Policy.

8. Ebooks and audiobooks

  • Every book comes with an ebook of the same story. We email you a link to it.
  • If you checked out without a Magikast account, use the link in that email within 60 days to add the ebook to your account. After that, an unclaimed ebook is deleted, so please email us if you missed it.
  • Ebooks and audiobooks are for your family's personal, non-commercial use. Please don't sell or publish them.

9. Our content

The stories, illustrations, characters, designs and the Magikast name and logo belong to us or our authors and illustrators. Buying a book gives you the book, not the rights to its content. You're welcome to share photos and videos of your own book and your child enjoying it.

10. Using our site

Please don't misuse the site: no automated access, scraping or bulk uploads, no attempts to get around our security checks, and nothing that interferes with the site or other customers. We may block access or cancel orders that break this rule.

11. Our responsibility to you

We make our books with care and stand behind them as described in our Refund Policy. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, and our total responsibility for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer protection laws that apply to you, or our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This does not take away any protection you have under the consumer laws of the state where you live.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place an order is the one that applies to that order.
